Throw Back Thursday

Justice loves to watch soccer on television.  He even watches it when it's in Spanish and he can't understand it.  He is thrilled when the World Cup comes on.  He has watched nearly every match on television this time around.

His team?  Team USA, of course.  He ALWAYS cheers on Team USA.  Well, until they lose.  Then he switches to his "other favorite" team, Germany.  Justice has been a fan of the German team since he was around six or seven.  He has always had both Team USA and Germany soccer jerseys hanging in his closet, and he's been known to paint his face either red, white, and blue or red, black, and gold.  He's "one of those" kinds of soccer fans.  The kind you see jumping up and down on TV throughout the entire match.  The ones that paint their chest and face to match the team colors.  The kind that screams "GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL" just like the TV announcers from other countries while running around the house like a loon.

When Team USA fell in the World Cup, he switched gears to Germany and will be cheering them on during the final match this weekend.  As I was watching him jumping up and down while cheering Germany on in the semi-final match, I had a flashback to the last World Cup.  I flashed back to a much smaller little guy, sporting a mohawk and cheering on the German team.   I took this picture during the last World Cup right after Germany upset the English team in one of the earlier rounds.  We were in Virginia with The Coach for the summer, and Justice was so excited I thought we would get tossed out of The Coaches apartment complex!

He's a little taller, and a little older, and thank goodness the mohawk phase has come and gone.  He's outgrown that particular Germany jersey and his old "favorite player" has retired, but he is still the craziest soccer fan I know this side of the border to Mexico.
