Justice went to Washington DC with the rest of the National Junior Honor Society. Although he went to DC last summer too, he really lucked out on this trip. The agenda didn't have any repeats from last summer's trip except the obvious like the White House.
I am going to let him blog about his trip himself, I just wanted to share a few pictures and some really great news he got on the last day of the trip.
I'll get to the good news first.
On the last day of the trip, Justice was named and announced as the new National Junior Honor Society President!
Congratulations Justice!!!
One of the teacher's sent me this picture right after they announced it. They gave him a giant bag of snacks when they announced his name. That's better than getting a gold brick if you are a teenage boy.
He texted me about it, and just to let you know the priority the snacks took, the text I got with this picture said:
"MOM! I got a second bag of snacks because I'm going to be the President next year!"
Hahahaha! I mean really. I was even nice and told him I'd let him eat the candy with the dye in it when he got home. And I did, and I regretted it but he earned that darn second snack bag so I kept my word.
So. On to the pictures. These pictures are terrible by the way. I asked him to send me a picture of the bus, and this is what I got.
The King of the Nerds and his faithful sidekick and good friend Tanner.
Oh look, it's the two fools again.
Another fantastic selfie from a random gift shop.
And that is the extent of the pictures I got from my amazing son on his trip. I do see a whole bunch of photo's on the photo stream that he took, and I will ask him to blog about his trip separately. I know he got a lot out of the trip, we have had some really remarkable conversations about it in the last several days.
I took this photo before he got on the bus. The trip coordinators are so smart. He left at 3:30 in the afternoon and got to DC at 8:30 the following morning. Sleeping kids on the bus, how smart is that? Same thing on the way back, I picked him up at 8AM.
We did something really neat before the bus left. The parents formed a complete circle around the bus and we said a prayer for a safe trip.
This is the whole group of kids that went on the trip, taken before they boarded the bus.
I LOVE this picture! Do yo know why? Because Justice is smiling, that's why. I LOVE IT! Never stop smiling Justice, never. Life is too short to frown for pictures.
White House photo.
And my favorite? All the nerds with Einstein. And my nerd is picking his nose.
Hopefully you will get some good things out of Justice's post, because this is the best I can do with the material I was given. :)
