Awards Day, Jack Mack Edition

I had the pleasure of attending Jack's award's day at school, and do you know I nearly exploded with happiness, right there in the school cafeteria?

I sit back and reflect on how far Jack has come during the school year, and I just can't even believe it.  He started out slowly, his first progress report was sort of rough, but then he was mad because he didn't do well and knocked it completely out of the ballpark.

At the end of the year awards day, Jack Mack (that's what everybody calls him, not Jack but Jack Mack.  Sort of like Mary Kate, LOL) was awarded every award the teacher gave out of the awards except perfect attendance.  I was sitting there with my jaw dropped, every time she called out an award name it was followed by "Jack Mack".

He was awarded All A Honor Roll, Top Reader, Best Penmanship, and drum roll please….

The Citizenship Award.

The little boy that once spit on a kid at church and had just about the worst attitude I've ever encountered was awarded the citizenship award.

Talk about coming a long way.  I mean honestly, what a rough toddler this kid was and what a sweet and loving boy he has turned in to.  I am thankful to God every single day for the change that has come over this kid in the past year.  I am thankful for his loving teachers, both at school and at church.  I am thankful that Bo Mack came to our family and softened his heart.

I can't thank Miss Cindy enough.  She kept sending me taunting and funny notes and texts  towards the end of the school year reminding me how I thought Jack was going to need special education classes at the beginning of the year.  Not even close!

That face.  Too cute, and really embarrassed and shy when people come to tell him what a great job he did.  Hopefully that will turn into humility when he is old enough to understand what the word means.

Congratulations Jack.  Well done.  I am incredibly proud of you, you are one awesome little dude and I love you to pieces.

  1. Aw, yay! I love that he got penmanship too. It's just an attention to detail type thing. Shows a lot of self control especially at that age to want to make the letters just right. He's an awesome boy.
