Folks, I was sweating Justice's TCAP scores. If you remember, Justice had that big to-do about his song in the weeks leading up to TCAP. It was a huge distraction. He had several performances at other schools and the interview at the radio station.
He also had many other performances at locations throughout the community.
He was asked to sing at the Tipton County Sherriff's departments "Tribute to the Fallen" ceremony.
He sang David Archuleta's song, "Glorious" from the "Meet the Mormon's" movie.
He was asked to sing for some sort of health fair in the community.
He sang the National Anthem at the 8th grade graduation ceremony. He sang the National Anthem for a school softball tournament. He sang for this, that, and the other. He got up early two Saturday's in a row to sing the National Anthem for local community events. One for the March of Dimes and I honestly can't recall the other one. I should have kept better records.
But most importantly, he was pulled from school to do most of these things. He missed several class periods in the month leading up to TCAP. He missed study time, he missed review time. I let him make the call though, he's mature enough to know whether he can handle TCAP or not with or without all the review. His grades are very important to him, so I trusted him. He said he could handle it, so I let him do what he felt was best.
And thankfully, it worked out very well! He scored two 99's and a 98 on his TCAP. He didn't get a score in Social Studies because they took a beta test for the new testing system next year.
Congratulations Justice, I have no idea how you juggled all of that during the last few months of school, but I'm thankful you did.
