Jack Loses a Tooth

Just a few weeks shy of his sixth birthday, Jack announced his tooth was loose.  It really freaked him out, and he asked me to pull it out immediately.  It was NOT ready to come out.  I told him to wait.  He's been mad, and really disturbed about that tooth.  So, I honestly figured when it was really time for it to come out it would be easy and no big deal.  HE was ready, but the tooth was not.

Ha.  That's what I get for thinking.  

Today he announced his tooth was hurting, and he refused to eat tonight because of the pain it was allegedly causing him.  He started to cry.  I told him it was time.  I went to retrieve my tooth pulling weapon of choice, a washcloth.

Me:  "Sit down, the tooth is coming out."  

And that's when Jack freaked the H E double-hockey sticks out.

Jack:  "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOO.  WAAAAAHHHHH!"

I was completely caught off guard.  But in one quick snatch-and-grab motion, I yanked him off the couch, onto my lap, and within five seconds the tooth was out.  BOOM.  You know why?  Cause I've got six kids, that's why.  I've got tooth-removing skills to the tenth power.

My poor little Jack-Jack.  Look at that face.  He didn't even know what happened, it happened so fast.  

Hopefully the next one will be easier.  But if he's anything like Justice, it will be like hostage negotiations, each and every time.
