And we couldn't be happier! Joe and I truly went into this pregnancy not caring one way or the other what sex the baby was, but we both acknowledged that having a boy would be much EASIER. We already have every single item a little boy baby could possibly want or need, and then some. We also have triple bunk-beds in Jack and Justice's room, and one bunk is vacant and needs a new occupant. So another little boy will slip right into our family without even a ripple in the routine.
There's no question whether it's a boy or a girl. Doesn't get any more obvious than that!
I have been really trying to figure out how to tell Justice and Jack in a fun way, and decided to use a piñata. I had all these grand plans of making my own, but when I cruised into Walmart this afternoon and they had one shaped like a cupcake, I thought "SCORE!!" and opted to just pre-purchase it rather than fool around with paper mache this afternoon. I bought matchbox cars, Cars 2 bouncy balls, some super-hero party favors, blue onesies and socks, little boy bibs, blue binkies, and some candy and stuffed it all into the cupcake piñata. It should be pretty obvious what the sex is when they bust it open!
I was a little concerned about how they were going to take it. Jack was all about giving away a little girl and wanting a boy until he had his change of heart. Now, he says he wants a girl. I think he will be equally unimpressed with either. Justice desperately wants a girl. I said to him this morning before I left for my appointment:
Me: "But you will be OK if it's a boy, right?"
Justice: "Not really."
Me: "A boy will be fine, I promise. Don't be sad if it's not a girl."
Justice: "Have you ever been BITTEN IN THE NUTS? Yeah, didn't think so. I want a girl. Pretty sure a little sister won't try to BITE MY NUTS OFF like the little red-headed devil son of yours".
I had no response for that one. I don't blame him. While I've never been bitten in the nuts for obvious reasons, I'm pretty sure it must hurt like nobody's business.
Well, it went MUCH better than expected! Justice collapsed to his knees briefly when he busted open the piñata and then gathered himself and said "I'm going to take it like a man, this is going to be just fine" and then he was OK. Thank goodness. Jackson was perfectly fine and started jumping up and down yelling "It's a boy, it's a boy!!!" and he was equally as happy. Double thank goodness. He was especially happy when he realized he got to keep all the little toys in the piñata!
Justice on his knees trying to recover from having another potential nut-biter in the house.
"The stash". Lots of little boy toys... and plenty of candy for Justice and Jackson.
Jack was pretty excited about the sports ball rattles.
This was by far Jack's favorite treat in the piñata. He has bugging the CRAP out of me to get the Binky's. Why? "Because they will keep the baby from crying Mom". And that's really important to Jack.
