Actually, he scored TWO goals today!
He scored one goal last weekend, too. It just happened to be going the wrong way and in the wrong net. Whoops. It was still an awesome goal, and his coach was a great sport by high-fiving him and telling him how great it was.
The Prison Warden let me out of the house today for a whole whopping 45 minutes so that I could go to Jack's soccer game. He really had no choice, since Justice's football game and Jack's soccer game were right about the same time and if I didn't go then Jack would have to skip out today.
Anyhow, we started out the season in a rough way, again. His first game, Jack's Soccer Disaster, was an absolute nightmare. Fortunately, the rest of his games so far have been fantastic. He has really played well and I am super happy for him. He has turned out to be really really aggressive, which if you know him isn't really very surprising. He has a pretty tragic temper and he's a hair trigger away from a fight most games. He has jumped right in there to get the ball, and has spent a whole lot of time on his backside during the games. The good news is, he always gets right up and isn't crying anymore.
Every single one of these shots of him on the turf were taken in just ONE game.
Jack is number 4.
OK, seriously now... Look at his face! How comical is this?
This was a tricky situation. There was a little girl on the other team that kicked Jack in the shin as hard as she possibly could and then called him stupid. The coach, recognizing already that Jack's temper is a little tricky, rushed out on the field as quickly as he could to not only make sure he was OK, but to make sure he didn't beat the heck out of the little girl. It was touch and go for a second, but all ended well. The coach had him do some deep breathing exercises until he shook off his anger. Whatever works. I'm just thankful he didn't take the little girl out at the kneecaps. His coach is great, Justice has been coached by him before and he's really wonderful with kids of all ages.
Jack played so hard today, and I'm so happy that he is having fun out there now.
His aggressiveness really paid off today, he was so HAPPY to score those goals!
He dribbles, he shoots,
He scores!
And he scores again!! I'm not great at taking shots when the kids are shooting. I'm usually too excited. Jack was too far back from the ball when he shot this one in and I didn't get him in the frame. Whoops, my bad.
And he is SO HAPPY!
Doing a little happy dance after the second goal.
I was happy too. Even though I was feeling extremely miserable, it was really good for me to get out in the sunshine this morning and get some fresh air. It made me feel a whole lot better, and I was glad I didn't miss out on this game or throw up on the field.
Way to turn the corner, Jack. Let's hope that you keep on moving in the right direction. Either way, I love you and your tricky temper to pieces.

Gooo Jack!! :D
