After much discussion, The Coach and I decided it was time to toss Jack out on the field and into the world of team sports. There was never much discussion with Justice or Shandi, they were both chomping at the bit to get out there and play. Jack is different, and it's not that he doesn't want to play, he's not nearly as active as Justice and Shandi are. We knew it would be rough at first, and Jack did not disappoint. It was R O U G H. I will keep the commentary to a minimum. Pictures speak a thousand words.
All smiles before the game
The game is going on around him. He is laying on the field picking grass while the other kids are huddled around the ball like a group of bumble bees on a flower.
I couldn't hang around his game because Justice was playing at the same time, three fields over. But suddenly I heard something behind me, and I turn around to this face. He just decided during the middle of his game that he was done playing and wandered over to where I was sitting watching his brother. I had to walk him back over to his field and to his coach, who happens to be The Coach. It was pure comedy.
This pretty much sums up how he felt about his first soccer game. He kept saying "I'm sooooo tired!!!" You know, because laying around the field is tough work. Sucks the life right out of you.
He has had two more practices since that first game and he is coming along really well now. He is enjoying himself and is not rolling around on the field anymore. He has become one of the bees huddled around the flower and is improving every day. He was struggling because he is out of shape and a little on the lazy side. You can be a lot of things in the Mack house, but lazy is absolutely not one of them. Not even when you are three.
And meanwhile, three fields over...
Justice and his team lost their first game 8-4. Justice scored 4 goals though so I'm super proud of him. He runs like the wind, and that's always a good skill to have on the soccer field.

LOL! Love it! Go Justice and Jack! :D
