The local schools provided eclipse glasses for all of the students, so the older two were able to go outside at school and watch the eclipse. We were in a decent place in the country to watch, as we were in the 95% totality zone.
With the older boys in school, it was just Bo and I. He didn't understand it much, but I still wanted him to see it. We had planned to stay outside most of the morning until it happened, but MAN. It was SO HOT!
Bo was making me nervous, I kept worrying he was going to burn his eyeballs out by looking at the sun. His glasses kept falling off so I just held them up until he finally told me
"Stop touching my glasses. I'm not gonna look at the sun. It's bright and it hurts my eyes."
So I left him alone.
He laid outside on the blanket for a good while, but like I said before, it was excruciatingly hot and humid that day, so he didn't stay out for long.
I took this picture with my phone, putting a pair of eclipse glasses over the lens. It worked fairly well. Personally, I thought it was a pretty neat experience. I was really looking forward to it and wasn't disappointed at all. I feel pretty lucky to live close enough to the totality zone without having to drive!
