Why? This is why.

The season was a tragedy of epic proportions. But see, I knew it would be like that so I was not surprised. Last season was the same way. Nothing really changed this season (till the end) so it was no shocker to me. However, the little feller below had high hopes that things would turn out better this year. Can't fault him for hoping. I tried desperately to convince Justice to run track this year and skip soccer, but he was having none of it. He loves soccer and I have to respect that. He has no regrets.
He played hard, he left his heart on the field every single time, and that's all you can ask for.

Something happened a few weeks before the season ended. I should see it coming by now, but it still blindsides me every time.
The Coach couldn't take it anymore. He was twitching on the sidelines and towards the end of the season he was "The Coach" again. I mean really, not just from the sidelines. With an official Tipton County School badge and all, coaching the boys. I imagine he's in for the long haul now, he's got some classes lined up over the summer to earn some coaching credentials and I figure he will be on the sidelines coaching next year and many years to follow if they'll let him.
How does he do that? I don't know. One day he's a Dad on the sideline and the next day he's getting fingerprinted at the school board, meeting with the school staff and that afternoon he's got a badge and a place on the sidelines, whistle blowing wildly.
It's comical, really. It makes him happy, it makes Justice happy, and it made the other parents happy so I'm happy.

Maybe next year will be better? And maybe not, but as long as Justice is playing for his school he will be happy. I'd like to say the same for The Coach, but we already know he's in it to win it.
Ha. Just another day in the life of the Mack house.
