I can't believe it's only the end of April and we have already logged four camping trips. We are loving every second of it, too. I'm sure you are tired of seeing the same old pictures and the same old stuff about camping, but I'm afraid this one is just like all the rest. Food, messy boys, and pretty green stuff.
My boys turn into wild children of the woods while we are gone. Jack is especially prone to it. It's almost like he senses we are away from civilization and just turns into a caveman. The shoes come off, the shirt, then he's got a dirty face. The hair usually goes haywire sometime in between losing the shoes and the shirt.
Well, maybe not this time. The hair seems to have gone first. Ha.
We traveled a few hours away to see a state park that several people recommended to us. It did not disappoint. Out of all the state park's we have visited (ok, that's not many but it's all the close ones) this was by FAR our favorite. The campsites were well maintained, the roads were nicely paved, and the bathrooms were SPOTLESS and smelled awesome. AND, the campsites have sewer hookups. This is the only state park we have been to so far that has full hookups. This is a big deal because if you don't have sewer hookups, you have to be careful with how much water you use. Once your holding tanks are full, then you have to hitch up and go dump your tank. Usually the dump station is at the entrance of every campground, but it's a huge pain to hitch up, go dump, come back, and unhitch. The other option is to conserve water. We can go about four days conserving water before we fill up the tanks. That means that no showers are taken in the camper. This does not please The Coach. Anyway, A+ for full hookups. We sent the boys to shower in the bathrooms though, because they were super filthy and well, I just don't plan to ever let them use the camper shower.
Walking bridge leading from one loop in the campground to another loop.
We played HARD on this trip. I promise you it felt like we were gone for a week. We spent twelve solid hours outside on Saturday. I logged 50 flights of steps on my fitbit from hiking on Saturday, and 8 miles of walking.
The lake was beautiful. In summer I imagine it's packed with small boats, canoes, kayak's, etc.

There is a nice playground to the left of this picture. The boys spent hours between the shore of the lake skipping rocks and fooling around in the water, and playing on the playground.
"No, no, don't worry about me. I'm just going to walk all the way out here and get stuck in the mud."

Poor Bo. He's so short, just like Jack. Those are shorts. Not pants. But he's tubby, so he has to wear them super long so he can button them over his girth.

Saturday was BEAUTIFUL. It was about 85 degrees, and it was a little windy so it wasn't actually "hot". It was perfect weather.
This is my favorite picture of my boys. They had so much fun, they laughed long and hard the whole weekend. It's rare to catch that smile on Jack's face, I love it. I will be getting a canvas made of this picture.

I was trying to take a picture of the lake and happened to catch an epic scooter wreck by Jack.

He rolled all the way down that hill to the bottom of the playground. He then declared it as "awesome" and he purposely wrecked for about an hour.
We had some great food on this trip, too. Teriyaki shish-kebobs and freshly grilled corn.

We had cake for dessert, because it was Bo's birthday. Yes, Bo turned two while we were gone. I'll blog a little about that later. It wasn't much of a birthday so don't get too excited.

See that? That's a freshly showered caveman who fell asleep in the middle of a sentence. He was THAT tired. He was talking about the movie they were watching and trailed off mid-sentence.
That's the best thing about camping. The level of activity. It never fails, they are so tired by the time they shower and sit down to watch a movie that they don't even get to the halfway point before they are knocked out asleep. It's so good for them to be outside and active, I wish every day could be like that. I can't wait for summer.
This is a rare siting. One of my kids with a popsicle. Don't get me wrong, I give them popsicles, but not the kind with artificial coloring in them. It's like a drug for Justice so nobody gets them. But in a weird and random moment, we met this guy who used to be a tour manager for AC/DC. He had this AWESOME RV he converted from one of their touring buses. It was really neat. But anyway, his grandkids had been there to visit and he had all this garbage food he wasn't going to eat so he wanted to give it to the boys. I let Jack and Bo have a popsicle and a red (gasp, RED) drink. Justice, not on a bet.

The boys played football the whole morning before we left. They play hard too, as evidenced by this shot of Jack, on his face.

We blew a tire on the trailer on the way home. The tires are new and under warranty though so it was just a minor inconvenience. I say that because I didn't have to change the tire, haha. Justice helped change the tire, apparently with his face.
I loved to see this smiling face while we were gone. Jack struggles during the week with school, and I don't get to see a smile too often. I will be happy when school is out and we can spend more time away and smiling.

Our next scheduled trip is Memorial Day weekend at the kids favorite park, Jellystone! Can't wait!
