And here is the obligatory first day of school photo for Justice.
He had a great first day, and is looking forward to a new school year. Because he scored a 99 on his TCAP in Math, he "gets" to take Algebra this year, and he is excited about that. I can't wrap my arms around his happiness, but I'm glad he is so eager to dig right in and learn why x = y or whatever they do with those letters in Algebra. Maybe when he figures it out he can be the one to crack the code for me.
He did get some bad news on the first day. His Choir Director took a job elsewhere and will not be back. That could have been really devastating for him, because choir was one of the reasons he wanted to stay in that school. It was one of the reasons I let him stay in that school. But, all is not lost… the new Choir Director is an amazing lady with incredible references. As a matter of fact, I remember her from our field trip in Memphis with the Treble Choir, so I know she participates in all the good stuff. Justice took the news better than I did, she must have made a great first impression on him. And if he's happy, I'm happy.
Here's to hoping this year is a good year. I hope and pray he continues to excel.

You know he's going to continue to excel. I can't believe they do algebra in 7th grade. That's crazy to me! Algebra was the 8th grade honor class when I was in school and when I taught. That being said, if by some freakish chance he gets stuck on something, I know a great algebra teacher. :)
