We took our annual trip to the zoo this year during spring break. Last year we didn't go because I was miserably pregnant with Bo and the weather was equally as miserable. I almost skipped this post because you know, it's just another trip to the zoo.
We did get to see the hippos this time around. Every time we are there they are inside. I think it's been four years since we have actually seen the hippos. Jack's reaction was classic. He had no idea a hippo was that big. Justice really didn't either.
I hadn't ever seen this thing while we were there either. Some sort of panda. Jack was also impressed, he didn't know there were any other kinds of panda's except the kind that are "fat, round, black, and white". He directed the picture taking by the way. Jack decides what animal photo's make this blog post.
The bears were down by the glass and that was pretty cool.
Jack: "MOM! WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THAT MONKEY'S BUTT? HE'S GOT A BAD RASH!!!"
Jack: "Hey Jus, that giant gorilla looks like he wants to kill you. You need to run."
Jack LOVES the pandas. He talks about them the entire ride to the zoo, and he insists that we go there first. Seriously, he could sit there and watch the pandas for like thirty whole seconds, LOL. Oh Jack.
OK, so I play this terrible game with picture taking at the zoo. I always try and get Justice's head to get right up next to the animals butt before I snap the picture. This was the best one from this trip. Mature, yes I know. The best one I've ever taken though is the one with Jack right up next to the orangutan. Their hair is I swear the EXACT same shade. Classic photo.
But see now he's on to me finally after all these years. I kept saying "A little more to the right…" and he refused. You can tell by the look on his face he's not interested in a giraffe butt photo.
Yeah, my days of getting pictures of Justice morphed into an animal are sadly over. He wouldn't budge for this one either. This gorilla's head would have looked great right on top of Justice's.

Jack fed the giraffes this time. He's never wanted to do that before, so that was pretty cool.
He wasn't scared but he kept dropping the lettuce. Justice was giving him crap about it so the lady called him out and told him to feed him a leaf. HA. Justice almost crapped his pants, he was scared and it was funny. Jack kept saying "What now Jus? WHAT NOW SON??" When he's mad at Justice he calls him son. I don't know, I really don't.
Jack is a turd. He rode the carousel but I made Justice ride with him. He intentionally picked the animal next to the pink flamingo so Justice would have to ride on the most flamboyant looking flamingo I've ever seen. Unfortunately for Justice, he wasn't bright enough to realize he didn't have to RIDE the animal, he could just stand there next to Jack. Jack kept saying "Did you get Jus and the flamingo in the picture?"
I did the best I could Jack. I didn't realize we were punking Justice otherwise I'd have tried harder. Next time let me in on the joke, ok?
So how did Jacoby like his first trip to the zoo? Well, this is what he did the entire trip. He bent all the way out of the stroller to watch the ground go by. He stayed in this position for most of the trip. As long as the stroller was moving he was watching the ground.
Speaking of Jacoby, They have children's artwork displayed around our zoo and I saw this picture with a kids name next to it and thought "WOW. Only in Memphis can they take the name Jacoby (which is unique on its own before you mess with it) and turn it into THIS". If I didn't have a kid named Jacoby I don't even think I would have figured out what the heck this said. Parenting fail.
This is Bo's "say cheese" face.
Justice likes the Kimodo Dragons.
And he also apparently likes to take selfies. Bad selfies. He clearly has no idea how to take a selfie and when I went through the Photostream I nearly died laughing.
And for the grand finale, I give you this one.
Oh, and this one. I took a picture of Justice trying to take a selfie. Hilarious. Look at his smile.
Fun trip overall. You know, it's the zoo. Next time ought to be really interesting since the baby will be older and HOPEFULLY more aware of his surroundings.

Looks like such a fun day!
ReplyDeleteSo I take it you're not a big fan of the zoo since you only go once a year? I grew up with a zoo membership so I like to just go and walk around the zoo. We probably go twice a month during the nice weather months. I love you making fun of that very creative spelling. We were just at the zoo on Friday and my mom saw it and said, "how the heck do you say that name?!?" I actually could read it. =)
ReplyDeleteI love the zoo. Justice loves the zoo. Jack? Not so much. As soon as Jack starts school I plan to get an annual membership and take Bo all the time!! :)
