Halloween is a huge deal in our neighborhood. We have lived a lot of places over the years, and never ever had more than 20 kids on Halloween. All of that changed when we moved here. The trick or treaters have finally stopped trickling in, and we had a total of 430 trick or treaters tonight. Yes, 430. People come to our neighborhood in droves on Halloween. They come in church buses, vans, and by foot. The police have to partially block off the street to keep cars from running over the hundreds of kids in the streets. It's really like nothing I've ever seen before. I tried to take some pictures when I wasn't a candy conveyer belt, but of course it's dark and impossible to see.
This is right outside the house. A truck pulling a trailer bed loaded with kids. This is a typical sight. I literally had a line of children waiting for candy from my door all the way down the sidewalk. It's amazing. And it's fun. I enjoy having all those kids in our neighborhood and love to see all the different costumes.
Since this is my first Halloween on the blog, I'm including pictures from past Halloweens.
Jack as Yoda, 2008.
The trio. Shandi was at that "too old to trick or treat but changed my mind at the last minute and had to scrape up whatever I could find" age. That white satin jacket is seriously vintage, and seriously belongs to Joe. Thank goodness it just sits in the closet for nostalgia's sake and hasn't seen the light of day since the 80's. This was Justice's first and only year wearing a scary costume. He scared himself, it was ridiculous. Who has nightmares from their own Halloween costume? Only Justice.
Justice as Spiderman, 2004. Great Lakes, IL.
Justice and Shandi, 2005. Great Lakes, IL.
Justice, the cutest little Red Ranger ever. I don't know what it is with my boys loving costumes with fake muscles, but they really really love them. I honestly think it's because Joe has muscles and they've always been obsessed with his muscles, but that's just my theory.
Jack as Scooby Doo, 2009.
Justice as some sort of creepy thing, 2009.
These are my favorite costumes ever. I made them myself and the boys looked absolutely adorable. Pirates, 2011.
Jack as Spiderman, this year. Loving the fake muscles.
Justice as a vampire, this year.
Vampire Justice is about to eat him some Spiderman for dinner.

So cute! Made me laugh...loved the costumes, too! :)
