Hello Fifth Grade

Today is the first day of school!  We had a fun, action packed summer and I enjoyed every second of it.  With that being said, I'm exhausted.  Museums, swimming, camping, scouting and the hot sun have just about done me in and I am ready for the fun to come to an end.

I'm usually apprehensive about the first day of school until I find out what teacher Justice has, but not this year.  His teacher from last year is "looping" and he will have her again this year.  I am extremely happy about that, I really loved his teacher and he responded very well to her teaching style.  I'm also thankful that he is going back to elementary school today rather than middle school.  At the end of last year a decision was made to put 5th grade back into the elementary school and I couldn't be happier.  I was on the "home-schooling" fence about it and really glad I didn't have to go that route.

Justice is very picky about his clothing and shoes, and it took  him a good part of an hour to select his back to school outfit.  He's also a freak about long shorts.  If his shorts show any portion of his knee, he will never wear them.  It's tough to find long shorts (European Man-Capri's is what I prefer to call them, but he doesn't like that a whole lot) in his size because his legs are so long.

The obligatory first day of school picture.

We are very blessed that the bus driver picks him up at the house so he doesn't have to wait at a bus stop.  The bus driver changed his route in Kindergarden because she didn't want him to sit out at the bus top since he was so little.  The route never changed back and I'm certainly not complaining.  I feel much safer with him sitting on the porch waiting for the bus.

Here's to a good school year!
