Father's Day

Joe sucks the fun out of holidays.  Around 30 days prior to any given holiday, he emails me a precise list of whatever gift(s) he wants, with the link to where I can buy them, and  there is no room for venturing outside that list.  He turns holidays into a transaction, and it's really no fun.  This year, he put a bicycle on his list, and that's what he got.  He even picked it out and purchased it himself and gave it to himself early so he could take it to Scout Camp.  BORING!!!

So while he was at Scout Camp the kids and I (courtesy of Pinterest) made him a few gifts in my awesome craft room.  We made him Father's Day Cards, one from each kid.  Shandi doesn't exactly qualify as a "kid" these days, but she lives here in the local area (not at home) so she helped out.  The kids each picked the paper for the ties, and of course Jack picked green.  Jack lives, eats, and sleeps the color green.  He's obsessed, and it drives me nuts.  Although it does make things easy, because if the color green is an available option, I just pick it and I'm a super hero.  Food, clothes, shoes, towels, whatever.  Anyhow, these cards were very easy to make and they are too cute.

We also made him this candy jar...

The bow on this jar gave me FITS.   What I thought would be a 30 minute project turned into two hours because I couldn't get the bow just right.  Which of course was a complete waste of time because he nearly chewed through it with his teeth to get to the Goober's.  It took 16 boxes of Goober's to fill up this jar. You may think, WOW, that's a lot of Goober's!!  But have no fear, Joe will dust them off very quickly.

Shandi made this card for him, using poster board and an obviously obscene amount of candy.

Since Joe had just gotten back from Scout Camp the afternoon before, he was exhausted and we didn't plan anything else for the day.   I fixed him shrimp and grits, which is his all time favorite and requested 100% of the time holiday meal.

I thank my Heavenly Father every single day for the blessing of having Joe as the Father of my children.  He has been the rock of our families foundation for 16 years, and I am eternally grateful for him.   Happy Father's Day to the love of my life, and the best father any children could ever ask for.  We love you so much.
