Trip to Grandpa's

My Dad surprised Justice with a trip to Washington this summer.  Justice was really excited to go.  And my Dad, in his typical go big or go home fashion, really put a lot of effort into this trip.

Justice did a great job at the airport.  He had three layovers, flew into huge airports that required him to take a bus from one terminal to the next, had to literally sprint from one gate to another in order to not miss his flight, and he handled the whole trip better than some adults.  He literally had not a worry in the world in the airport, was not scared or concerned in the slightest.  I hate to fly, so I'm glad for him.  This wasn't the first time he flew unaccompanied without airline help, so I honestly was only worried about him leaving his phone in the bathroom or losing his boarding pass.  I was confident he could get from point A to point B with no trouble. He is a thrill seeker, so this was like a contest of sorts to him.

"Can I get there?  I can get there.  Let's do it."  Ha.

Look at this face.  This is a face that says

"I'm going to miss you.  Actually, not really,  I trying to keep from smiling but I can't  because I'm about to go on this plane and I'll see you when I see you".  Haha!

He and Julie took him to Sucia Island on the boat for a trip.  He had the greatest time.  My Dad let him drive the boat.

One of my favorite pictures of the trip.  Gramps imparting wisdom on the little guy.

He kayaked a lot.  He also dove off the top of the boat into that freezing water.  A rite of passage of some sort.

They did some hiking.  My Dad is in absolutely perfect heath.  For that I'm thankful.

Julie's daughter Jamie and Justice fooling around on the beach.

They spent every evening outside on the patio.  My Dad shared some great stories with him.

We were glad to have him home, especially the two stooges.  Justice was gone for all but about two weeks here and there this summer.  The house was quiet, and the little ones were lonely without Bubba to pick on.

This was an experience he will never forget.  I am so thankful my Dad did this for him.  Justice is old enough to appreciate the time he spends with him, and is glad for the knowledge and wisdom my Dad is able to share with him.
