At the end of each season, there is a football banquet. Players receive awards and/or trophies, and the kids get a chance to see each other one last time before the off-season. Typically I wouldn't write a post just for the banquet, but it turns out it was a big night.
The Coach's JV team received their Championship Trophy. That trophy was nearly as tall as Jack! The little kids were really impressed.

After the team award was presented, individual awards were given out to some of the players.
Imagine Jack's surprise when he received the ROOKIE OF THE YEAR award!
Yay for Jack-Jack!!!!! He was FLOORED, and it was such a cool moment. What a happy little football player.

And after all the individual awards were given, the Director for Shelby Youth Sports came up on the stage and presented a special award that only goes to one team of the entire Shelby Youth Sports organization.
And this year, the Sportsmanship of the Year award goes to…
The Coach and his team!!! What a great surprise!
How awesome is that? What a great way to end the season. I am SO happy for him. There are some really crooked teams in our league. There are crybaby coaches, and a lot of cheating goes on. But not The Coach. He does not cheat, he does not lie, and he does not cry or whine. He makes his boys conduct themselves with outstanding sportsmanship, and teaches them to be team players.
And it paid off in a big way this season.
What a great group of kids, and a great night to celebrate the accomplishments of Jack, The Coach, and their team.
